Fine Art Photography Print - Emily
Emily started working for my family when my mother was pregnant with me and remained in our employ for nearly 25 years. She made the best "Pap and Wors" for lunch. Upon my return to South Africa after a few years out the country, I visited her at her home in the then Kwa Ndbele where she had retired. I met up with Sabina her daughter and together we took the bus out after work, creating quite a stir and we got in sometime after 7pm in the pitch dark. I spent the day with Emily chatting to her making notes for a story I was writing about her life and how she experienced South Africa. Two days later I got up at 3:30am to get to the bust stop and headed back to Pretoria with Sabina as she commuted to work. Humbled, I wrote my story with a much better perspective of Emily and her life.
